A heart is a terrible thing
It causes so much pain.
Things you wish for,
but will never have
A heart will hold a grudge for all time.
A heart will hurt for a while
after it breaks.
It pines after people
that will always consider it petty.
It can turn black with hate
swallowing everything around it
into the emotionless void,
where everything hurts
and there is no stopping it.
A heart can turn to stone,
hard against peas and against
all mercy.
A stone heart
hurts not,
when things shatter against it.
A heart can fade away
lose it color, its hope, its life.
Then nothing hurts,
nothing is good, or bad.
Its is all black.
A heart can turn to ice.
Pure cold, in the face of anything.
No feeling
no thought.
No melting or rot.
Nothing phases those with
ice
A heart can also be a heart of gold.
Glitter in kindness and peace,
guarded but hopeful.
Blessed in all ways,
broken yet pure.

Centered in the being of man or woman is an inner, pure, innocent, loving, joyful, energy. This ENERGY is known to us as SOUL. This beauty is separate from ego.
Separate from evil thought, separate from anything negative. It is a child that has no need to grow up. It is love incarnate and it knows all. It is the part of us that we cry to be reunited with, and makes up our wholeness and being.
If we can once be in contact with it, we will know God and have the knowledge that we are never alone.
We are trained to hide this part of self inside as we grow up. We move so far from innocence that we lose contact. The only path to union is surrender of ego, surrender of control, and surrender of our shadow selves. By embracing the shadow, we can again become the innocence we once knew. By trying to love unconditionally as a child, or a pet does, we cross the bridge of conditioned thought into a realm of spiritual oneness, and at last appreciate the true self.
